CLE to organize BSM in Saudi Arabia & Jordan during Feb/March 2009

The Middle East region is an important market for leather products and footwear. With a view to further explore the possibilities of enhancing export of leather products and footwear to this potential market the Council has considered it necessary to undertake aggressive market development activities in the Middle East region. Amongst Middle East countries Saudi Arabia and Jordan have significant imports of leather and leather products from the globe. Their total global imports is US$ 414.31 million and India`s export to these countries is only US$ 16.09 million holding a share of 3.88%. Hence there is a scope for further enhancing our market share in these countries. For this purpose, the COUNCIL FOR LEATHER EXPORTS proposes to organize BSM one day each in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and in Amman (Jordan) during the month of February/ March 2009. The exact dates and venue for the BSMs will be finalized in consultation with the Indian Mission in both Saudi Arabia and Jordan and accordingly it will be informed in due course.
